At the same time, in order to train specialists, able to frame in the current professional situation was laid emphasis on developing skills of using statistics, practical methods, the computer, of knowing the foreign languages, of possessing broad social-general cognitive horizons.

Currently, the Faculty of Psychology and Social Work has a modern unitary conception of training the psychologists, sociologists and social workers specialists. Within it framework works the following specialties: Psychology, Psychology and Foreign Languages (French or English), Social Work and Sociology.

The educational process is provided by two profile departments: General Psychology Department and Applied Psychology Department, being stipulated the division of the latter into: Clinical Psychology Department and Social Psychology Department, and the establishment of the Sociology and Social Work Department.

The technical and material base of the faculty includes classrooms, audio-video laboratories and laboratories of simultaneous translation for the study of the foreign languages, and a Center of Psychological Counseling and Psychotherapy. In the reading room, there is a large collection of literature in various languages of the areas studied at the faculty. A modern prerogative of the educational process is also the access to the new informational technologies – the Internet, databases – presented by the University Mediateca. The students make the practical training within the framework of the Counseling and Psychotherapy Center, at clinics, military units, organizations and enterprises, prisons and police stations etc. under collaborations (cooperation) contracts. The training is practised by a teaching staff consisting of doctors, lecturers and magistrates in psychology. In training the personnel is implemented the collaboration with the Faculties of Medicine and Foreign Languages, which provide the assimilation (absorption) of some disciplines necessary for the professional qualification.
